Of the many methods of obtaining prophecy in Icaria, none is so revered as the reception of a future from the Sakjeden. The Grove, as known by the Fae, exist cloaked in myth, their origins predating even that of all elves, gnomes, centaurs, and any other Faen that still walk the continent. Their prophecies may be rendered in two ways: personal or general. A personal prophecy is offered to someone who makes the pilgrimage to the Grove to ask for it. It is tied to that individual’s life, guaranteed to come to fruition in some form or fashion. The general prophecy is not tied to the life of the person who hears it. It is tied to the land and therefore it can come true at any point after it is given. While that prophecy is perhaps the best known, there are others that still affected the lives and doings of the continent. Below is one such prophecy.

Without her sight
She will see the light
And in half-looking
She will find
The one whom she must teach
She will curse the child first
Before she learns to speak
And only after hearts are torn
Will student find her master, shorn
Waiting for her cursed self
To come home to heal
And only then will she become
The student’s general, second to none
And in their lives they will find
Neither peace nor rivalry
But final rest.

This was a personal prophecy given to Cairlaen, Elvinblood. She shared it as she died in the last throes of the third age. While true, it was a distinctly unhappy prophecy that caused the elf much pain in her later years.
